Perimeter Fencing and Gates
Hermiston Municipal Airport, Hermiston, Oregon
Approximately 8,000 linear feet of security fence at Hermiston Airport was in need of replacement to meet current FAA standards and provide for airport security. The existing fence was removed and new fence installed with two vehicle gates and a pedestrian gate added for access. The project, on schedule and within budget, was completed with final construction costs within one percent of the engineer’s estimate.
Earlier work at Hermiston Municipal Airport included rehabilitation of Runway 4-22.
The realignment of the parallel taxiway, to be constructed in 2015, is the next project in the continuing improvement of the Hermiston Municipal Airport. This project will address deteriorating pavement conditions and non-conforming safety items associated with the full-length parallel taxiway. Relocation of the parallel taxiway is required to meet the required FAA runway to parallel taxiway separation safety standards for a category B-II airport. Additionally, the project will re-evaluate aircraft operations and aircraft parking on the airport’s main apron area which is located adjacent to the parallel taxiway.
